3 July 2001 - Greetings Stamps Smilers Sheet redesignRoyal Mail entered the world of Personalised Stamps in 2000 at this international stamp exhibition, with the first of what was to be a long series of Smilers Stamps.
The stamps are the ones originally issued 20p Greetings stamps in 1990, and as 1st class stamps in 1991.
The stamps were also included in a surprising redesign of the original, probably because stocks of the original were exhausted but there was still interest.
The new sheets were again printed by Questa but this time in lithography with a changed perforation, 14½ x 14 instead of 15 x 14. Thus they were sought after as individual stamps as space was included in some albums.
