Stampex Autumn 2008 Smilers sheet - Aircraft of the Royal Air ForceBusiness Customised Sheets are similar to Smilers Sheets but are designed for use by businesses and charities who are able to have content on the labels varying for every stamp, and a bespoke illustration and caption surrounding the stamps.
Most of the production has been associated with Football Clubs, Popular television and film characters, and with FDC and souvenir covers who have used these where no special stamp is available for the anniversary they want to commemorate with a special cover and postmark which compliments the stamp.
This sheet was commissioned by the Philatelic Traders Society. The stamps are the Thanks stamps from the Greetings 'Ingots' set of 2001.
We don't have details of the printer, but it is probably in litho by Cartor, perforated 14½.
The original sheet stamps were printed by Enschede in gravure, perf 14 x 14½; the original Smilers Sheet (LS4) was printed in litho by Questa with the same perforstion.
Aircraft depicted range from the De Haviland DH2, through the Sunderland and Meteor to the Tornado.
