Royal Mail issued a set of stamps and miniature sheet depciting the ever-discussed subject of the British weather. There is an interesting technical development on the 27p stamp (both versions) where thermochromatic ink has been applied to the cloud. Gentle heat from finger tips will change the colour of the lower cloud from reddish violet to light blue.Technical details: the 35mm square stamps are printed in gravure by De La Rue, perf 14.5 with PVA gum. The designers have managed to include a range of thematic subjects including cats, dogs, birds (icnluding a goldfinch), shipping, castle, butterflies, all within the setting of a barometer.
