Product Description
Royal Mail Post & Go FaststampsThe original Machin-head Faststamps were issued at Bristol on 8 October 2008, with no philatelic announcement, first day cover, or other products from Royal Mail. The Machines in Post Office branches are provided by Wincor-Nixdorf, and dispense stamps with values expressed as:
1st class - 1st class Large - Europe up to 20g - Worldwide up to 10g - Worldwide up to 20g.
With the introduction of pictorial Faststamps (Birds) on 17 September 2010 the typeface was altered to avoid printing on the picture. Originally this was only at the 30 branches that were selling the Birds stamps, but the software change was gradually extended to the whole network.
In the autumn of 2011 an extra Worldwide 40g value was added, and rolled out nationwide over a few weeks. The new value first appeared at London's Broadway SW1 (010011) branch on 13 October 2011.
In November 2012 Hytech 'next generation' machines were used at a new 'pop-up' post office at Camden Market.
This is a single Worldwide 40g stamp - the first time this had been available from a Hytech machine without temporary inscription or overprint.
