Product Description
USA - unusual pen-cancelled picture postcard. The 2c Washington Series 1902 stamp is placed in the conventional place, and is cancelled with the VERNON SEP 13 A.M. 1907 NEVADA postmark.
The stamp is also cancelled with a manuscript X, and the date 9-13-07 added below.
This was either because the Vernon postmark was underinked, and the postal clerk decided to use pen & ink, or the pen cancellation was applied at another place.
Sent to England from this mining area of Nevada. The message on the front reads:
"We have not seen anything like this. It is dried up ground - nothing but sagebush."
