42p stamp - 20g airmail rate to Europe.
These were supposed to be printed by De La Rue as usual but as De La Rue were moving to new printing works at Dunstable, they were unable to print the initial supplies of the 35p Machin and 42p country stamps.
This is the subsequent reprint by DLR, issued on 10 May.
The size of the value is smaller on the DLR print than Walsall's. On this example the three colours are out of register, but even taking this into account and working out the maximum possible DLR dimensions, the figures are smaller.
On the DLR the 4 appears to be closer to the left edge of the stamp, and the 2 further away from the dark diagonal line to the NE of it. Both left and right petals of the daffodil are closer to the margins on the DLR stamp so the overall design must be larger.
Just as the figures of value are smaller on DLR, so is the Queen's head.
