17 February 2016 - 500 Years of the Royal Mail : Post and Go Stamps, Heritage Transport

A set of 6 stamps issued for sale though vending machines and self-service kiosks in Post Office branches was issued to coincide with the Royal Mail 500 stamp issue.

To coincide with the celebrations of 500 Years of the Royal Mail The Postal Museum (formerly BPMA) issued a set of six postcards which were on sale before the stamps were issued.

This is a set of 6 stamps on relevant cards with appropriate postmarks.

Post boy 1640s stamp on card showing the London Post, cancelled with the Spring Stampex London N1 first day of issue postmark also showing a mounted post rider.

Mail coach 1790s stamp on card showing the General Post Office at St Martin's Le Grand in London (1828) cancelled with the 'Golden Age of Coaching 500 Years Royal Mail Heritage' London postmark on the day of issue.

Falmouth packet ship 1820s stamp on card showing the loading of the Transatlantic Mail at Falmouth, by HS Williamson. No specific illustrated postmark was available: the official First Day of Issue postmark shows a design made up of different wheels - rail, cart, ship & van)
