2013 marks the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, the longest-running science fiction series in the world; the first episode was broadcast on 23 November 1963.
Royal Mail celebrate the anniversary with
- a special set of 11 stamps showing the Doctors
- a self-adhesive miniature sheet showing the Tardis and some of the Doctor's enemies
- a self-adhesive retail booklet containing 4 x Tardis stamps and different versions of the Doctors 1 and 11 stamps
- a prestige stamp booklet
- a Generic Smilers Sheet.
Full details can be found on our website and our blog. We are not stocking the products which Royal Mail have made it easy to buy. We are offering as single stamps those stamps which are contained in booklets or sheets which collectors may want as single stamps. This is the self-adhesive 1st class Tardis stamp from the retail booklet printed by Walsall Security Printers.
The stamp is perforated 14¾ x 14, with 4.5mm phosphor bands on either side.
The image dimensions are 17.5 x 21.5 mm, which is 0.5 mm larger on each dimension, than the similar stamps from other sources in this issue.
The image below shows, from left, the stamp from the retail booklet, the stamp from the miniature sheet (MS), and the stamp from the MS pane in the prestige stamp book.
