Airliners - 50th Anniversary of Commercial Jet Travel - 2 May 2002
To commemorate the 50th anniversary of commercial jet travel on the De Havilland Comet, Royal Mail issued a set of 5 stamps showing close-up features of some of Britain's most distinctive airliners.The 65p stamp shows the - at that time very original - twin engines of the Comet.
The 45p stamp shows the distinctive engine and tailplane arrangement of the VC10.
The E-rate stamps shows the tail of a Trident G-ARPA in the livery of British European Airways.
An unusual underwing view of the nose of Concorde is shown on the 1st class stamp, and the powering cockpit and nose of the A340 Airbus is shown on the 2nd class stamp
