5 June 2017 50th Anniversary of Machin Definitive Stamps
Apart from the four new definitives with iridescent security printing, three more new stamps were included in this commemoration and we have them here on Royal Mail first day cover with High Wycombe postmark in the style of the horizontal self-adhesive stamp.
The £1 gold foil embossed, the 1st class black with elliptical perforations, and the 1st class orange, landscape format, on gummed paper rather than self-adhesive
2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the issue of new Queen Elizabeth II definitives featuring Arnold Machin's iconic bas-relief sculpture which replaced the Wilding definitives. Arnold Machin's 1967 portrait of Queen Elizabeth II (sometimes referred to as the Machin head) has been reproduced over 200 billion times.
