3 January 2013 - 1st class and 1st class red definitives from all sources on one FDC
Following the Diamond Blue-coloured Jubilee Machin definitives and to promote its own brand, Royal Mail changed the colour of the 1st class stamps to 'Royal Mail red'. At the same time the colours of the 50p & £1 values were changed, and the 1p - 20p stamps were reprinted with the iridescent layer omitted when they were first printed in self-adhesive sheets in March 2011.
This cover has the
1st class & 1st Large stamps from counter sheets - MAIL
1st class & 1st Large stamps from business sheets - MBIL
1st class from booklets of 6 & 12 - MSIL, MTIL
1st class Large from booklets of 4 - MFIL
1st class from coils - MRIL
all with year code M12L (although issued in 2013 the contract was placed in 2012) on a Royal Mail definitive fdc with the Windsor Permanent postmark.
The remaining 1st class red stamp with M12L code was from the London Underground mixed booklet issued 9 January; no stock remaining for these.
