31 March 2009 - FDC of stamps for new postage rates2010 followed on the success of the Design Classics set of 2009 with a look at the classic art of the album cover. For decades the album sleeve has been the canvas for some of the most imaginative graphic artists in the world. A set of 10 stamps marked this unique art form and celebrates some of the greatest examples, used by UK artists.
In addition to the pictorial stamps there was a prestige stamp book containing all 10 plus two panes of Machin definitives. These were notable for having a new font for the value on two of the stamps, the 5p and 54p, identified in the SG Concise catalogue as type III.
