19 September 2013The Merchant Navy prestige stamp contains a pane of Machin definitive stamps - 4 @ 5p and 4 @ 50p with source code MPIL and year code M13L. The stamps were printed by Enschede, who inverted the perforator which shows the elliptical perforation near the top of the sides of the stamp. For this reason alone the stamps warrant collection, even if they do not get a full catalogue listing.
The stamps are on the Merchant Navy official fdc with the Stampex Merchant Navy first day of issue postmark. While stocks last we have some examples with the central label from the booklet pane. If you have a preference please let us know and we will provide it if we have them.
